Liposuction

Congratulations, you are about to have the safe DreamBody Liposuction Procedure to permanently remove fat from an area of your body that you have chosen. And once fat cells are removed they can never grow back, so the treated area will remain thin even if you gain weight later. Recent advancements in laser-ultrasound liposuction, has made it the most performed in-office cosmetic procedure in the USA. Over 500,000 in-office liposuction procedures were done last year alone. Better liposuction equipment with the use of lasers, ultrasound suction the MicroAire PAL™, improvements in Tumescent fluids and the use of smaller suction cannula has made in-office liposuction safer than the liposuction done at hospitals or surgical centers. DreamBody Centers specialize only in Laser Liposuction, so easy and safe in countries like France, Brazil and Thailand the phrase “lunch time lipo” is used to describe in-office liposuction. Though the DreamBody Advanced Liposuction Procedure cannot be done during a lunch break, most patients do return to work in a day or two.

Women generally have their abdominal area done along with sides or flanks. Lateral hips or saddlebags are the next most commonly treated area, followed by inner thighs and knees. Bra rolls in the back along with the front bra bulge known as the “teacup” is fairly common. Other areas commonly treated with laser liposuction include upper arms, knees, lower legs and neck/chin. The HCG diet compliments liposuction by reducing body fat by nearly a pound a day to further help you achieve your DreamBody.

Men are getting the in-office liposuction procedure at greater numbers in the past two years. Men generally have their abdomen, lovehandles/ flanks, chin/neck and breast areas done most of the time. All these areas can be done together at the DreamBody Centers for a lot lower cost than the competitor! Testosterone replacement therapy from the doctors at DreamBody Centers or The Anti-Aging Institute of Arizona (aaiaz.net) can further help in achieving your DreamBody.

5-7 days before surgery - stop taking aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs like Motrin, Advil, ibuprofen, Aleve, Naprosyn, Anacin, Excedrin and all products that contain these medicines....

The day before surgery - get a good night of sleep.  Take Tylenol PM or plain Benadryl (only as directed on package), if you think you will be too excited to sleep.

The morning of surgery - eat breakfast as usual, avoid a Grand Slam size breakfast, coffee and tea are ok.  Shower or bathe with soap or shower gel.  Also, if you have a past history of yeast infection with antibiotics tell the DreamBody physician so Diflucan can be prescribed after antibiotics.

Wear clean comfortable clothes; socks, sweat pants, sport bra, button or zipper shirt seem best. Clothes will get a small amount of blood on them, so please plan accordingly. You may drive to the DreamBody Center but you may not drive home because of the sedating effects of some of the medications that you will take on the day of the procedure. So, please make prior arrangements for a ride home following your procedure. The DreamBody staff will be happy to call your driver for you when the procedure is nearing completion, or your driver may comfortably wait for you at the DreamBody Center.

The procedure day - begins with signing consents, interview with physician, vital signs and photographs for the medical record. Please let the doctor know if you are experiencing any signs of infection. Examples include, but are not exclusive to: frequent urination, burning with urination, urethral discharge or blood, shortness of breath, cough, sore throat, headache, chest pain, fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, back pain; muscle or joint pain, swelling, or redness; and skin rash.

You will be given preoperative medication at the DreamBody Center that will help you to relax; Xanax (alprazolam) or Valium (diazepam) by mouth with water or juice. Also a Benadryl shot will be given for further relaxation. No IVs are needed!
In the operating room - the DreamBody staff will guide you through the procedure completely, as well as talk with you throughout.  Music is even played to help you further enjoy this wonderful, life-changing experience.  Patients may use the restroom or drink small amounts of clear liquids during the liposuction procedure. Expect to change positions often so that the liposuction surgeon can sculpt your body with maximum benefit and results.  Also, expect your skin to become partially wet during the procedure, as the tumescent fluid does leak out sometimes.

The DreamBody advanced liposuction procedure is so safe, because there is no intravenous sedation or general anesthesia.  Nearly all bad outcomes, recorded from liposuction procedures performed by other facilities, are caused by IV sedation and anesthesia.

The DreamBody procedure uses tumescent fluid with Lidocaine and bupivacaine to nearly completely numb the liposuction area. The Xanax or Valium are added to alleviate the heighten anxiety on surgery day.

After surgery - a lot of gauze and dressings are applied under the garment to absorb the excess leakage of tumescent fluid which will continue to leak for the next 12-36 hours. The leakage will be pink or light red in color.  Of note, it only takes a tablespoon of blood to make a quart of fluid look red. Therefore, do not be alarmed by the color.
The post liposuction garment is recommended to keep the empty, fat reduced area, from accumulating post-op fluid. Post op fluid retention does occur, but is not an accumulation of fat. Wearing the garment 24 hours a day for a full week is best. You may remove it to shower or change for laundry. Showers should not be hot, because hot water can cause inflammation and accumulation of fluid to the area. Cool packs applied postoperatively can significantly reduce inflammation and pain for up to a week.
Pain control after the surgery varies from person to person; most do not need any prescription medication.  The best schedule for pain control is the use of plain Tylenol in the morning, Advil in the afternoon and Tylenol PM at night. This regimen of medications avoids narcotics and thereby all of the annoying side effects like constipation and drowsiness.   It also minimizes anti-inflammatory drugs that may cause stomach ulcers and internal bleeding, which slows healing.  This safe regimen allows for better sleep which will promote improved healing.

After a week of wearing the garment, almost continuously, then you may reduce its use to 12-16 hours per day, for the second week. "Spanks" and "Barely There" brand garments may be an alternative.
