The fear of
gaining weight
after receiving liposuction is a common one. While it is possible, the amount of weight that can be gained back after receiving
liposuction
is lower than the weight you had prior to the procedure because such a high percentage of fat cells in that area were permanently removed during the cold laser liposuction.
If a patient does gain weight after receiving liposuction, the weight is typically gained more proportionally and evenly distributed throughout the area or areas that were treated. During the
cold laser liposuction procedure, fat cells are softened with a cold laser, allowing the fat cells to release trapped lipids. This makes the removal of fat much easier, and much more even throughout the body.
• Lipid: ˈlipid/ Any of a class of organic compounds that are fatty acids or their derivatives and are insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents.
The fat cells that are removed by the cool laser during liposuction are permanently removed. Once the fat cells are removed from your body, they can never grow back. This is not to say that you cannot gain weight after receiving the procedure, because as we said earlier, you can. However, those fat cells that were removed will not come back, and the weight (if gained back) will most likely be distributed more proportionally.
In short, when asked the question “Can I gain weight after receiving lipo?” the answer is yes. But, you can never gain back the exact fat cells that were removed during the liposuction.
